I grew up on a farm near Woodburn, Iowa and graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1981, playing football and baseball through my high school years.
After high school, I studied at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri and received a degree in Computer Science, progressing to work as a computer programmer in Kansas City and Des Moines for five years.
While volunteering at a church in Des Moines, God called me to full-time ministry. I received my MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1994. More importantly, that is where I met my wife Stacey; we were married in June 1992. We have been married for over 31 years and we have three wonderful children—Kalina, Caleb and Kaitlin. Family is one of the most important gifts from God and I cherish every moment I get to spend with them.
I served as Associate Pastor at Evangelical Fellowship in Amarillo, Texas for four years until God led us to Mason City, Iowa where I served for over twenty-four years as Sr. Teaching Pastor. It amazes me that God brought me back to my hometown to serve as Pastor of Faith Fellowship.
I enjoy most sports, especially baseball. I attempt to play golf, but it’s the walk I most enjoy. I like to walk and go on nature hikes with my wife. I enjoy reading and I love to teach the Bible. I find great joy in helping people grow in their understanding of Scripture because it leads to a deeper love for Jesus. My life verse is Colossians 1:28-29.
